Monte Casale - Pilastro del Missile
View route detailsGiuliano Stenghel is a very imaginative person, or perhaps very discreet, when he names the “Missile” the brown streak on the second pillar of Casale. A very beautiful route, with a strictly logical line. At the beginning we were worried because neither Matteo nor I had brought the topo, but once we got into the sequence of dihedrals and cracks we realized it was impossible to get lost. There are few pitons on the route and, to be honest, little need for protection. The climbing is sustained at around V+/VI, with a few harder and a few easier sections, and it is consistently very satisfying. The famous final pitch, which we had feared so much after reading reports online, in reality holds no surprises: it is perfectly protectable, and then a well-placed sling makes it possible to avoid the last awkward move by adopting a Tarzan-style approach. A special thanks goes to Fabio, who had the great idea of suggesting this route to us.
