Pinnacolo di Maslana - 20 anni di sfiga
View route detailsImagine where two people meeting at Piazzale Corvetto at 6 a.m. might be headed… It’s obvious: the Pinnacolo di Maslana. Lucio is from the Valle dell'Orco and wants to get firsthand experience of our Lombard conglomerate which feels like granite. After not encountering almost a single car throughout the Val Seriana, we manage to get lost twice and lose all the time we had gained. Eventually, we arrive in Maslana. The sign for the pinnacles has been removed: just after crossing the gully that splits the small hamlet in two, you must turn left onto a faint track that soon becomes a path marked with yellow paint (not red, as some topos incorrectly state!). We leave our packs under an overhanging boulder and set off on this bold spire. The first pitches are beautiful and not trivial, and come quickly one after another. Then finally comes the moment of truth, and I start struggling up the wide chimney. After about twenty metres, two old pitons suggest traversing onto the slab just left of the crack. With a final pitch that begins more like caving than alpinism, we finally reach the summit.
