Corno Stella - Il barone rampante
View route detailsOur two-day trip at the Corno Stella continues. My original plans were a bit different, but since the north face was wet, we headed straight to the south side and, after the two routes from yesterday, we decide that Voie Lactée might be a bit too much and opt instead for Touche la Pierre. Bad omens make me think that today it’s better to play the client rather than take the lead… And indeed, as soon as we reach the start of the route, Lucio points out that I’ve forgotten the rope at the hut. I run back down to get it and explain to my two unfortunate companions my theory about omens—and without any resistance, they agree to split my leads between them. To make up for the setback, we choose to climb Il Barone Rampante. Six magnificent pitches, wonderful climbing, well protected and never easy. After a quick raid to the summit in search of génépy, we get ready to descend. Sooner or later, though, the north face will see us again.
