Torre d'Aimonin - Oui on dance le roc

View route details

The weather… We arrive in the valley around 9 a.m., where Marco and Guendalina are waiting for us. The (mad) idea was to go on Sir Biss’s latest “crazy line.” Unfortunately, it starts raining. The weather gods had forecast sunshine… We head back towards Noasca, where it seems a few rays of sun are breaking through—and indeed, everyone is there. First belay: “Hey Franci! Have you seen who’s at the base???” “No, who is it?” “It’s Alessandro Gogna!!!” “And who’s that?”… Well, today’s youth… what can you do? We continue for two pitches with tricky sections, then abandon “Oui, on dance le roc” to dedicate ourselves to the pleasant cracks on the ridge: first a hand jam crack, then a wider one that turns into a chimney and then an easy, enjoyable offwidth. The route finishes with a very aesthetic final pitch right on the crest of the ridge. Two rappels, a quick sandwich, and we’re in Ceresole, musing about Nicchia delle Torture, Diedro del Mistero and other such names, but in the end we end up playing on the Kosterlitz crack, where a gentleman—probably British—climbs up whistling in tennis shoes…
