Valeille - Touborg + Candelabro del Coyote
View route detailsI’m already used to early alarms not being late anymore, but when I’m not the one driving it doesn’t bother me at all! Even more so when the world hasn’t ended and we can kick off the new era with a nice ice climb! We go to check out Tuborg, which is said to be in good condition on Gulliver… and while we’re at it, we also make a quick stop at the Candelabro. All the most famous icefalls are there, and they all look in good shape. There’s even the direct start of Hard Ice in the Rocks. Beautiful. Tuborg, on the first pitch, really puts me to work, forcing me to take a few rests. The Candelabro is a different story: seemingly harder, but in reality much easier. For those interested, I’ve also added a photo of Hard Ice in the Rocks, Stella Artice, and Cold Couloir (all three apparently in excellent condition).
