III Torre di Sella - Vinatzer

View route details

Long debate about whether to climb the second or the third tower. In the end we opt for the third one. The start is obvious, but the pitons don’t match Bernardi’s topo. We decide we’re still on the correct route anyway (and indeed we are). The first part is fairly easy, followed by the spectacular roof pitch—never really hard, but incredibly slippery. As usual, Livio climbs without paying much attention to the protection, except on the crux pitch. The descent is unpleasant, due to hard-packed snow and mud that cover us from head to toe precisely during the final rappel… A fun and enjoyable route.
