Everyone has their own obsessions, and this year I’ve set my mind on (Jacopo dixit) “closing the San Bernardino,” just like he wants to “close Montespluga.” So the plan slowly takes shape, and we reach three out of five classic ski tours. A beautiful ascent over delicate rounded snow domes, topped off by a steep couloir, reaching about 45 degrees at its steepest point, which I—fearing I might scrape all the way down from top to bottom—descended on foot, while my two fearless partners skied it. Epic heat (Edo was very happy, having stepped out of the car with his classic line: “I want to be warm”) and hard snow heavily worked by the wind, which fortunately softened a bit under the sun. If anyone wants to repeat this tour in the current temperatures, I recommend starting the descent before noon. I don’t know why the camera started acting up and kept producing a black corner in the bottom right… I’ll investigate…
