It had really been a long time since I’d climbed a route, and I was really in the mood for it. The inclement weather we’ve been having lately doesn’t make it easy to plan good climbs, so much so that our trip to Val Masino is off. Switzerland looks promising, so I decide to go settle a long-standing score. The group is large, and we take our time. The pitches are beautiful, and there are many more bolts than I remember. The second pitch, “Il Filtro,” still requires a fair amount of composure. The climb then continues with lesser difficulties, always athletic on excellent granite. We reach the summit late and hurry down the rappels... and as always happens when you’re in a hurry, everything goes wrong... After a not-exactly-short contest to see who could mess up the most rappels, we manage to get down. It’s late, and the return trip still awaits us. It’s around midnight when I get home, but I’m truly satisfied! It was a beautiful day, and I’ve finally started going to the mountains again!
