Punta Tissi - Diedro Philipp Flamm
View route detailsSince more people have been encouraging us to climb it lately—“because it’s definitely dry, and you can be sure you’ll finish it in a day”—we decide to take their advice. We get our gear ready, and Marco, Lorenzo’s friend, starts taking things off our tarp: "Do you want to finish it today, or do you want to sleep out here? You have to travel light!"—8 quickdraws (which were supposed to be 6, but we managed to haggle—and in the end they became 10 because with a Kansas City move I managed to sneak two into my backpack), 5 friends, half a liter of water (?!?!?! but we’ll refill at Coldai), and the ropes. “Hammer and pitons?” “Leave them down here, just don’t mess up.” “Right!” And so we set off up the Coldai trail in heavy rain, which stops as soon as we step through the shelter’s door. A sumptuous, excellent dinner, which, however, sits a bit heavy on my stomach because I’m worried… It’s starting to rain again, and I fear something might go wrong. I set off hesitantly, my stomach churning, but slowly the situation improves and I perk up. The route is superb, with excellent rock for 85% of the climb—and over that distance, that’s no small feat. We reach the top as the clouds play strange tricks; we take the via ferrata down and soon we’re soaked, but luckily the lightning is only for Pelmo... What a route! What an incredible route that manages to connect all the weak points of this enormous wall! Stunning. I dedicate this ascent to the memory of Matteo, with whom I had long dreamed of this climb.
