Monte Castello - A volte ritornano

View route details

We’re in the Orco Valley for two days of crack climbing, and after a quick stop at Sergent, we’re wondering what to do on the second day. The forecast has taken a turn for the worse, with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon, and just hanging around in the clouds would require too much of a sacrificial spirit. On the suggestion of a local, we opt for Monte Castello. We decide to climb Imago, but after a bit of research, our attention is caught by this route, which is more challenging to free climb but of similar overall difficulty. We head up to the Noaschetta hut to take it easy the next day, but the sky doesn’t look promising. Fortunately, in the morning there are only a few clouds, and we quickly reach the start of the route via well-marked trails with orange markers and stone cairns. The route is beautiful, on excellent rock, intelligently bolted, and a lot of fun. I’m not posting my own report because it would just be a copy-paste of the route setters’ (which is very precise; you can find it at by following this link on PlanetMountain )
