Pan di Zucchero - Tuyaux de poele
View route detailsThe weather forecast isn't looking too promising, so we decide on a peaceful (???) route with bolts (...). Saverio accepts our invitation, on the condition that he climbs only as a second. The rock is incredible —compact and rough— but with very sparse bolting. The very first 5+ pitch sets the tone for the route. The first ascenders climbed straight up, looking for the best rock, without worrying too much about protection. The storm swirls around us but never breaks over us. Fortunately, the 7a pitch is Lorenzo’s; after making the difficult move—despite the, shall we say, sparse bolting—he decides to take an untested hold and nearly falls back to the belay (the pitch traverses). He climbs back up and solves it. From here, two 6c pitches with a risk of falling at the belay, lead just below the summit. Given the threatening clouds, we skip the final 4th-grade pitch and traverse toward the rappels, where Saverio shows great confidence with the void (see photo)...
