View route detailsThe big plans, which I can’t reveal, always call for a test run, so I suggest to Giacomo a little high-altitude outing: easy-going and conveniently accessible. It’s a great opportunity to sleep in the cool air and try out the insert I’ve prepared to fit the mattress into the car. We take the second cable car from Cervinia (we didn’t expect such a queue at the ticket office). We approach the ridge of the Roccia Nera, but after a quick calculation we realise it’s better to opt for the normal route if we want to complete the traverse and still have a chance of catching the last lift. Conditions are excellent, with many skiers around heading in all directions. The outing goes well, but not quite at the right pace to make it back in time for the mechanical descent (last ride at 15:45)…
