Torre del Moai - Religion Rebel
View route details(Continuation from Stella Retica) After a rather lavish breakfast, I say goodbye to Fede and start the usual prep: sorting gear and a short nap. Marcello and Luigi meet me at the parking lot by the sports field in San Martino. We pack our bags and set off, destination: “a room in Val Cameraccio.” We get there after inspecting almost every available boulder, but once inside we decide to leave and look for another shelter. Marcello and Luigi talk about bivouacking under the “Rombo delle galassie (roar of the galaxies)”, which I like to imagine quite literally after the full-moon ascent of the previous day, but in the end we settle on camping on a reasonably comfortable rock. In the morning, well rested and after a solid breakfast, we set off towards Religion Rebel, convinced it can’t be that bad in the end. What follows is a bloodbath—everyone tied for the same score, each of us taking a leader fall—but we make it to the end, then immediately head down. It’s very late, and the descent path feels endless. I open the door to my house at 2 a.m. and push my alarm for work back by half an hour (as if those few minutes will make any real difference…).
