“Do you think Oro e Carbone is dry?” “Hmm, I think so, after all these days of sun and heat.” It is with great optimism that our long weekend in the Dolomites begins, but when we wake up the next morning, doubts start to creep in. Rather than Oro e Carbone, it should probably be called the “cascade of pissadu’.” Luckily, modern technology helps us out and we quickly find an alternative—calling it a fallback would almost be an insult. The route is stunning, well protected on the harder sections and airy on the easier ones. We didn’t reach our original objective, but in the end things turned out much better than we had thought possible.
