Piz Bernina - Biancograt
View route detailsHow nice summer is—it's hot, deadly hot, and the only way to survive is to go up into the high mountains! Ah no, I forgot… it’s actually spring. Anyway, in view of the upcoming aspirant course module, we decide to stretch our legs in the Engadin, where temperatures are considerably milder. After a little carriage ride—noblesse oblige—we head to the Tschierva hut, where a generous dinner awaits us. Just enough time to realize it’s already time for bed, and the alarm is already ringing… We set off across the moraine and quickly reach the Forcola Prievlusa (which I enjoy misnaming, given its rather unfortunate name). From there we calmly reach the summit, finding the route in excellent condition. Less fun is the descent from the “fortress” (not exactly well tracked), on very heavy, slushy snow. To top it all off, since we started like nobles, we return like nobles too—with a nice taxi ride back to the cars in Pontresina.
