Description
We often read in the newspapers about rescues on rock face, and many of these could have been avoided. This happens, for example, when a rope gets jammed while rappelling: a situation that a simple maneuver can resolve, if you know how. There are also other circumstances that can be resolved without calling for help, with just a little preparation and a calm demeanor.
During a day at the crag, we’ll learn how to get ourselves out of the most common predicaments, the ones that can turn a fun day in the mountains into a nightmare. We’ll practice each maneuver under my direct supervision. The scenarios we’ll work through may vary depending on the participants’ experience levels.
This course is designed for those who already lead climb multi-pitch routes and want to learn the basics of handling an emergency. Bring the gear you usually use for a long route: together, we’ll figure out how to make do with what you have - and what’s worth adding to make things easier.
