Lucio "Lucio" Bertoldi

"I come from Italy's ‘Little Yosemite’ (the Orco Valley). Mountaineering has been a passion of mine for over 15 years; I prefer high-altitude rock climbing and ski mountaineering. My mountaineering resume consists almost entirely of expeditions in the Western Alps, and I’m eager to expand it. Work and family life now take up most of my time, but every now and then I manage to escape to the mountains! I’d like to quote a line from Tita Piaz, the “Devil of the Dolomites” from the early 1900s: “… We go to the mountains to be free, to shake off all the chains that social life imposes, so we don’t stumble every few steps over rules and restrictions. We also go to the mountains to escape musty conventions, to let loose for once and recharge our batteries…” It sounds like it was written today, and I think it’s a beautiful description of the “fire” that every mountaineer carries within!”
